Défi sportif 2010, presented by Hydro Québec : choose to win.

AMPUTEE WORLD HOCKEY CHAMPIONSHIP

Défi sportif is proud to host the next World Hockey Championship for Amputee Athletes to be held from April 27 to May 2, 2010.

Still undefeated, the Canadian representatives will attempt to grab a fifth World title. Four other teams, Finlad, USA, Latvia and a world team with players from 6 contries will be competing in strength and dexterity to try and dethrone the maple leaf squad.

Identical to the traditional discipline, hockey for amputees is reserved for athletes missing one or more upper or lower limbs. Thanks to research made in sports science as well as technological advances, the disability is not very obvious and the level of play is very high.

Although the Défi has previously held World Cup events, the hosting of a World Championship is a first in the 27 years of the organisation.

An initiative that started in 2009, the SUPER FINAL is a general public event aimed at showcasing adapted sport. Climax of the Défi sportif, this colourful sporting meet doubles as the closing ceremony. For the 27th edition, the SUPER FINAL will have the two top teams participating in the Amputee World Hockey Championship facing off.
