Wheelchair racers use a lightweight, 3-wheel chair that features an extended, aerodynamic design. This type of racing wheelchair is formed to fit the shape of the athlete, with men reaching a maximum speed of 30 km/h and women pushing 25 km/h. At the Défi sportif, competition is offered in 5 categories:

• Open division (women’s and men’s)
• Quadriplegic division (women’s and men’s)

Défi sportif is presenting the Canadian Championship for the 10-kilometre course.
