- Be Your Best
The tour is an opportunity for the Be Your Best Team to meet young people with disabilities and education staff, to teach them about active lifestyle and healthy eating habits, and introduce them to adapted sports and Défi sportif AlterGo.
Schools, rehabilitation centers and organizations that provide activities for disabled youths from 5 to 21 years of age may now apply to host the event.
Five options are available, free of charge, depending on needs, space and time constraints:
This activity is offered as a complete package and is entirely adaptable to the needs of the hosting organization. Young disabled people can participate in workshops about healthy eating, active lifestyles and Défi sportif AlterGo. In addition, they can try adapted sports with experts in each discipline. According to their availability, it is possible that mascot WalterGo and ambassador Luca " Lazylegz " Patuelli may also be present.
For an organization with little space or limited time, the Be Your Best team can visit for a minimum of one hour, in order to assist in the discovery of adapted sports. Depending on needs, the number of participants and the space and time available, the team runs different sports introduction activities.
The Be Your Best squad, consisting of one athlete, the WalterGo mascot and ambassador Luca ‘’Lazylegz’’ Patuelli, can participate in one of your events. They will help young people with disabilities to discover the program Be Your Best while raising their awareness to adopt an active lifestyle and good eating habits.
Mainly focussing on school staff, the goal of the information session is to present the Be Your Best project, the Défi sportif AlterGo, the healthy lifestyle for young people with disability, etc. The meeting can be easily integrated into a conference, a pedagogical day, or a training activity.
The Be Your Best seminar brings together stakeholders from the school system and the rehabilitation community participating with young people in the Défi sportif AlterGo. It seeks to facilitate networkingaround the issue ofadapted sports with a view to developing additional tools to encourage physical activity and healthy eating among the young people these stakeholders work with every day.
The seminar also gives the Défi sportif AlterGo’s team a chance to present new aspects of the school component for the upcoming edition of the event.
The seminar is held in Montreal in early December of each year.
The meeting for school officials provides a discussion forum for representatives of school boards, schools from the Greater Montreal region and the Réseau du sport étudiant du Québec (RSEQ). The meeting is held during the Défi sportif AlterGo. The attendees will gain an appreciation of the young athletes’ pride and the results of the schools’ efforts to encourage young people to engage in physical exercise and adopt an active lifestyle. The meeting also provides a chance to discover the various opportunities associated with Be Your Best and the Défi sportif AlterGo.
