It is inside the glass doors of the Grande Bibliothèque that AlterGo held its 34th annual general meeting this past November 19. The make-up of the new board of directors was ratified at that time. Tracy Wrench was elected president. She had been interim president for the past two months. She takes over from Sylvain Gamache who held the position for nine years. Four newcomers have joined the board: Michele Gardiner, Pascal Lavigne, Catherine Montour and Michel Réhel. For their part, Richard Côté, Jean-Pierre Hurtubise and José Pellerin bowed out and were thanked for their past implication.
A guided tour of the Bibliothèque nationale du Québec adapted services preceded the general meeting. Indeed, the library located in the heart of Montréal has acquired new equipment and software for people living with deficiencies. The Service québécois du livre adapté (SQLA), offering a vast collection of books adapted for persons with a visual deficiency was also the object of a presentation. The members were thus able to see for themselves the latest efforts made as regards accessibility.
