(Sportcom) After two bronze medals collected over the last two years, the Gatineau Wild changed colours! Winners of the ball hockey final on Wednesday evening, the Gatineau team shut out the Montréal Échelon athletes by a score of 2-0. Tempête, a Québec area team took the bronze. “
Our speed and our powerful shots are our trademarks”, declared André Charbonneau, proud member of the Wild for the last four years. With a record of one win, one loss end two ties in the qualification round, the team members gave their all for the final. “We just had to increase the intensity by a notch.”
Each week, the team gets together and trains for the Défi sportif. André and his cousin, Stéphanie Tremblay, are hockey fans. Playing ball hockey is a passion and the Défi sportif is their Stanley Cup. “It is our play-off series. We come here every year, it is our objective for the season”, according to Stéphanie.
However, for the whole team, the Défi sportif is not only a chance to play hockey and win medals. It is also a question of living an experience of togetherness. “We spend a day together and that fosters team spirit. We strike up new friendships at the Défi sportif”, Mario Labonté added.
Already the team members are thinking of next year, of what they can do to improve for the next Défi sportif and, of course, of successfully defending their title!
