The Défi sportif AlterGo team wishes Quebec students and all staff members who enable them to play sports a great start to the new school year and hopes to see them at its 36th annual multi-sport event.

Many students with functional disabilities (over 6,000 last year!) are eagerly anticipating next year’s Défi sportif AlterGo, which will take place from April 29 to May 5, 2019, at the Complexe sportif Claude-Robillard and other sports facilities.

The event team cannot wait to welcome young athletes and watch them reach their full potential, reconnect with friends and have fun.

It also looks forward to allowing young people to mingle with elite athletes, and spokespersons and ambassadors of Défi sportif AlterGo!

Until then, it encourages students to explore and train in various sports disciplines at their school or rehabilitation centre.

The team also recalls that its website offers manuals to assist educators in helping young people with disabilities and disorders to engage in physical activity. Furthermore, it can lend equipment to educators wishing to introduce young people to adapted sport.

In addition, throughout the year, it provides knowledge transfer through an annual conference, training, outreach events, webinars and an advisory committee.

At Défi sportif AlterGo, not all students are athletes; some are also volunteers. In all, the event counted more than 1200 volunteers of all ages and backgrounds, of which over 260 were students. Their dedication is essential to the success of the event.

Starting this fall, school groups wishing to volunteer at the 36th Défi sportif AlterGo can contact Andréanne Coutaller, Coordinator, Volunteer Relations, at, or by calling 514 933-2739, ext. 228.
