Until the next edition of its flagship annual event, Défi sportif AlterGo wishes to share precious memories from its 35th anniversary.
“Thanks for 10 years of memories and inspiration”, writes Sarah White, in one of 18 messages collected last April.
Before competing on the international level, Sarah found para athletics at Défi sportif AlterGo. She is one of the many athletes, elected officials, celebrities, business people, parents and stakeholders who have been to the largest annual multisport gathering in Canada. During the event’s most recent occurrence, these guests – and often times, athletes – were invited to immortalize a thought in writing or on video. The results will be posted in the span of 6 weeks on Défi sportif AlterGo’s Facebook Page.
“No excuses, no limit”, reads a message from breakdancer Luca « Lazylegz » Patuelli, who has been wowing crowds for years at Defi sportif AlterGo with jaw-dropping performances in crutches.
The 35th Défi sportif AlterGo was greater than ever before with more than 7,000 athletes competing, 15 countries represented, 16 sports, 7 sites and more than 1,300 volunteers present.
As always, it relied on the collaboration of numerous partners, including world’s strongest man Hugo Girard, an ambassador of the event who was attending for a 2nd year. “Youth who participate at the “Défi” today are the ones who will change our community tomorrow”, he reflects in one of the videos that will be posted by next February.
The event welcomed a number of public figures such as actor Francis Reddy, who, after hosting a medal ceremony, announced his return for the 36th edition. “I’ll be there next year, and for a longer time”, he promises in a clip shot alongside Jean-Marie Lapointe, actor, author, speaker and spokesperson of Défi sportif AlterGo for 17 years, as well as Michel Mpambara, comedian and long-time guest of the event.
The 36thh Défi sportif AlterGo will take place from April 26th to May 5th, 2019. To learn more, visit our website by clicking here. More than an annual event, Défi sportif AlterGo is a non-profit organization that promotes adapted sports and healthy lifestyle.
